Rustic Double Rockers.
Our double rocking chairs are ergonomically designed to be comfortable enough to sit in without any cushions. The extra wide rocker on which the chair sits gives these chairs the ability to rock on rough or uneven surfaces such as flagstone and even on the grass under your favorite shade tree. The rocking chair backs are unique one-of-a-kind design. We even build custom rocking chairs made specifically for the individual by utilizing our customer’s unique measurements for the perfect arm rest height and back pressure points as well as ease of getting in and out of the rocking chair.
We build these rocking chairs 4 feet and 5 feet wide with enough room to comfortably seat 2 to 3 people with plenty enough room for you and the grandkids or you and several of your 4 legged pals.
Each of our rockers is final assembled using 28 exterior grade primed deck screws to support all stress points. The ribs are thru-bolted with galvanized bolts including locking washers for extra strength.
Final sanding of our rocking chairs is to 220 grit. The wood is then sealed with three coats of spar (marine grade) urethane, sanded between the second and third coats for maximum adhesion.
We choose to use Minwax Spar Urethane Clear Hi-Gloss product because of its durability and UV resistant properties resulting in years of service before having to apply another coat. This is a marine grade urethane made to stand up to the outdoor environment. This product also provides for easy cleaning of your rocking chair and maximum water repellency.
The underside of our rocking chairs is left raw in order that the natural, aromatic, and therapeutic aroma of the juniper (cedar) odor from the oil found within the wood can be enjoyed by our customers. This odor also naturally repels insects which is a definite plus when you are sitting outside enjoy nature. Over time the oil will wick away from the surface, but a gentle sanding will once again bring the oil back to the surface and renew the wonderful odor.
